Brad at the Crowne Plaza Open in Sanya 21/08/2006

It was the muggiest and hottest conditions we have experienced in Asia since beginning at Q school in January of this year.
Brad started off on the 10th in the afternoon group Thursday. Brad shot a 1 under 71 Thursday so sat in 32nd place of the 139 players who tee’d off. Achieving 11/14 fairways and 100% on up and downs it was reading the greens that proved difficult.

Friday Brad tee’d off in the morning of the 1st shooting a 72, sat in 47th position and made the cut. Brad played some great golf and was -6 before playing the15th. Brad then played a shot us amateurs play to often commonly known as a shank and ended with a double bogey. He followed that up with another double on the 16th after hitting his second into the drink on the par 5. We physically hit the wall with the heat at the 16th. Including the player Brad was playing with, the group behind and the one ahead collectively the 8 players shot 23 over par on the last three holes. Not an excuse just 35 plus degrees and muggy.

68 players made the cut which was even.

Brad played a solid round Saturday shooting a 70 2 under par, Brad was 3 under for the round after four holes but gave one back on the 14th and another on the 6th before birding the 9th being the last hole of the day. Again frustrated by the putter but moved up a few places to 38th = place.

Sunday Brad tee’d off at 7.40am and copied Saturday by again birding 11,12 and 13 and continued on to birdie 16 and 18 to be 5 under at the turn, Brad birded the 2nd and then par’d the rest of the round to finish with his best round in Asia so far a 66. This saw brad finish 13 = which was a great result.

For the record the putter on Sunday was on fire with just 11 putts on the first 9 holes played.
